The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of common reed on some properties of saline soil and growth of barley . The experiment was carried out an clayey soil. plastic pots were used and common reed was applied at three levels(0%,1% and 2%) based on dry soil weight .each pot was planted with(20) seeds of barley . The following parameters were measured soil salinity(ECe) and soil acidity (PH), organic matter content and physical properties of soil(mean weight diameter ,hydraulic conductivity , bulk density and available water. The plant height and dry weight of plant were measured after one month from planting . The results showed that: Reduction of soil salinity and increase in salinity infiltrated water from the pots decrease of soil PH and increase of soil organic matter content with the increasing levels of common reed. The mean weight diameter, hydraulic conductivity values , available water were increased . bulk density at decreased with levels of The dry weight and plant height increase with increasing levels of common reed . from the results of this experiment, we recommend that the addition rate of 2% of common reed improvement some of the saline soil properties.en_US
